Karen's Hair and Makeup Artistry at Nursery Road, Clearwater, Florida.

My best friend booked hair and makeup for her wedding with Karen's company. We had our schedules for each person set weeks in advance, (Karen, Adarely and Rocio were scheduled to come out) all seemed to be going well until the night before the wedding when Karen text messaged the bride at 10PM saying she wouldn't be able to make it herself because of a family emergency which later turned into "I figure out the family thing but now I took a pain pill for my back and I still can't come.." which was super odd and unprofessional - not to mention just about every word was spelled wrong and you could barely make out what it said. She also mentioned that instead of the original start time of 12:30, we would be starting at 11:30. We didn't want the bride stressed out the night before he wedding so we said okay and that was that. The next morning the bride got another text message that said they switched the time again and they will be there at 12 now. At this point it was getting a little ridiculous. 12 o'clock rolls around and nobody shows up.. (we start getting nervous because we originally had 3 staff members coming but because Karen took a pain pill we were down to 2) at 12:20, Rocio finally showed up and we get started. She did my makeup and hair first.. I showed her pictures of both hair and makeup that I was interested in.. my hair was so lopsided I had to try to fix it myself and it still looked like I slept on one side the whole night. My makeup was probably 2 shades lighter than my skin and I have never had so much eye shadow caked on my eyelids! It was so awful. I didn't even want her to fix it so I went downstairs and scrubbed half of it off and redid it myself. Adarely finally showed up and did 1 bridesmaids hair and makeup, the mother of the grooms hair and left. With still a bridesmaid, MOH and the bride to go. The MOH felt like a ghost she looked so pale and her hair was falling out 30 mins after she got it done. Pictures were supposed to be at 5PM and it was after 4PM so the brides MOH called Karen to let her know how behind things were running and how there was only 1 girl there. There was no way Rocio could finish the girl she was working on and then do the brides hair and makeup without rushing through it to be done in 40 minutes. So after going back and fourth with Karen about it she called Adarely to come back and she agreed to give the bride $40 off her total. Once they were completely finished they refused to give the bride that discount because Karen called them and told them not to. Rocio and Adarely sat in front of all of us speaking back and fourth in Spanish (making it clear they were talking about us) we were in a hurry so everyone paid and the ladies left. The MOH again called Karen to let her know how awful of an experience this was and Karen repeatedly called her a liar. We had about 10 people in the room who saw everything that happened and she still had the nerve to call her customer a liar! So unprofessional and plain rude! Karen finally agreed to send the bride a partial refund and that was that. As expected – that refund was never sent to the bride. The villas where the wedding was apologized up and down (they gave the bride the referral) and assured her that they will NEVER use Karen’s company ever again. Such a scam!! Terrible, terrible customer service, way over prices and rude employees/owner. Save yourself the stress and money and go ANYWHERE else!
